Lillian Wixon Obituary

Middletown, NY

Lillian J. Holbert Wixon, a lifetime resident of the area, died September 8, 2008.

The daughter of Rennie Holbert and Lena Eldred, she was born June 17, 1931 in Tyler Hill, PA. She married William George Wixon, Sr. on December 20, 1947 in Montgomery.

A family statement reads: "We felt very blessed to have had a Mother like our Mom. She was a woman of great strength and courage who relished every minute as a Mom, grandmother and great grandmother. She always put her children first. She loved to socialize with family and friends. God gave her many crosses to bear over her lifetime which she carried with great dignity and spirit. We will miss her terribly."

Lillian is survived by two sons, Samuel and wife, Darlene of Pine Bush and William and wife, Sheila of Athens, NY; two daughters, Billie Ann Wright of Middletown and Janet Lee Hickey and husband, Ron of Middletown. She will be missed by ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothea Price of Unadilla, NY; two brothers, Richard Holbert and wife, Joan of Wallkill and V. James Holbert and wife, Carol of Montgomery.

Lillian was predeceased by her loving husband, William; her daughter, Donna Jean Adams, and son, Lemuel "Mickey" Wixon.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown.

A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 12, at the funeral home, with Dan Hulseapple officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Wallkill Cemetery.

Donations in her name may be made to the O.C. Homemaker Service c/o Southwinds, 70 Fulton St., Middletown, NY 10940.
