Peter DeBlock Obituary

Johnstown, NY

Peter S. DeBlock, age 89, a resident at the Wells House in Johnstown, passed away on Wednesday evening, September 17, 2008.

He was born October 20, 1918 in Paterson, NJ to John and Ann Zuidema DeBlock.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Grace (Betty) Sadler DeBlock; a son, Peter S. DeBlock, Jr. of Fonda; a daughter, Lois Knapp and husband, Ted of Johnstown; grandchildren: Daniel Knapp (Ruth) of Dallas, NC, Kris Cowper (Tod) of Middle Grove; great-grandchildren: Hannah Cowper, Tod Cowper, Jr., Brandon Knapp, and Brett Knapp; two brothers, John DeBlock, Jr. of Westtown and Kenneth DeBlock of Fort Plain; many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, David Knapp, granddaughter, Gail Sebast Knapp, and brothers, Nicholas and Sidney DeBlock.

Mr. DeBlock was a dairy farmer all of his adult life in Orange County, NY until retiring to Johnstown in 1974, he and Betty greatly enjoyed their retirement years traveling and collecting antiques, especially toy farm tractors. He was a member for many years of the River Valley Tractor Club and faithfully attended the First Baptist Church of Johnstown. He was a lifetime member of the New Hampton Fire Company.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 20, at 10 a.m. from the Saving Grace Baptist Church (formerly Village Bible Church) Route 30A, Fonda, NY.

Friends and family may call on Friday, September 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main St, Johnstown. Interment will be in Ridgebury Cemetery, Orange County, NY at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 20.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to the charity of one's choice.
