Willard Conklin Obituary
Sparrowbush, NY
Mr. Willard "Willie" Conklin of Sparrowbush, NY and a lifetime resident of the area, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 82.
He was born May 22, 1926 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Alvin and the late Beatrice Oppelt Conklin. He married Elizabeth DeGroat 56 years ago on July 10, 1952 in Port Jervis, NY.
Willie worked for 45 years for the Laborer's Local #17, Newburgh, NY. Earlier in life he worked for the Erie Railroad.
A family statement reads: "Dad was a good Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend."
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Conklin at home; son, Jeffrey Conklin and his wife, Rhoda of Huguenot, NY; daughters, Nancy Vorhis and her husband, Roger of Kingston, AL and Wanda Malzahn and her husband, David of DeFuniak, FL; brothers, Phillip Conklin of Middletown, Dwayne Conklin of Port Jervis, Francis Conklin of Sparrowbush; sisters, Crystal Conklin of PA and Naiomi Turner of Florida; 11 grandchildren: Brandon, Tyler & Marissa Conklin; David & Mitchell Malzahn; Alan, Corey, Ryan, Alicia, Marga & Roger Vorhis; four great grandchildren: Summer Georgi, Ethan Hopkins, Katherine Via & Alexander Schroeder. Also several nieces and nephews.
Willard was predeceased by his son, Willard Allen Conklin in 1967.
Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis on Friday, September 19, from 9-11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 19, at 11 a.m. in Gray-Parker Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Orange County Unit, Wisner Prof. Bl, 407 E. Main St., Middletown, NY 10940.
