Thomas Balko Obituary

New City, NY

Thomas Michael Balko of New City, NY, died on September 21, 2008 in Nyack Hospital.

Thomas was born in Yonkers, NY on December 11, 1928 to Peter and Elizabeth (Genesky) Balko.

He has been a resident of New City for 45 and a half years, prior Yonkers, NY.

Thomas was a Supervisor for the Rockland Co. Sewer District #1 in Orangenburg. He retired in 1991. Thomas was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing. He loved to take videos of his grandchildren and was a perfectionist when it came to his lawn. Thomas was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Julia; sons, Thomas of Cornwall and Peter of Monroe; daughters, Tricia Balko Betz of Cornwall and Marianne Balko Dalton of Peekskill. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Teresa, Peter Jr., Eric, Thomas John, Christopher, and Rachel Marie.

Visiting will be held today, Wednesday, September 24, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 25 at 11:30 a.m. at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow, NY.
