Robert Forsythe Obituary

Formerly of Milford, PA

Robert D. Forsythe, 89, of Avon, CT, formerly of Milford, PA, beloved husband of Grace (Cullen) Forsythe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at his home.

He was born in New York, NY on February 5, 1919, son of the late Robert F. C. Forsythe and Sarah E. (Dobbin) Forsythe.

He was a Pharmacist Mate, First Class in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. Robert served on the New York City Fire Department retiring as Captain after 25 years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his three daughters: Mary F. and her husband, Curvin E. Montgomery of Burlington, CT, Gladys and her husband, Michael Perreault of Hollis, ME, and Carolyn Rhines of Santee, CA, and his five grandchildren: Heather Wustrau, Mark E. Montgomery, Trevor H. Luce, Floyd Elmore and Roland Elmore.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11, at 1 p.m. in the Memorial United Methodist Church, Avon, CT, with the Rev. James Hoffman officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Farmington Valley VNA, 8 Old Mill Lane, Simsbury, CT 06070.

Arrangements are being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc.; 860-522-1155.
