Natalie Walter Obituary

Niceville, FL

Natalie E. Walter passed away on August 22, 2008 in Niceville, FL. The daughter of the late Martha Vickery and John J. Eden, she was born on May 22, 1920 in Harriman, NY. She is a graduate of Monroe High School, Monroe, NY and Centenary College for Women in Hackettstown, NJ.

Mrs. Walter is predeceased by her husband, the Rev. Donald W. Walter, a pastor who served the Callicoon and Grahamsville charges in the New York Conference, as well as the Equinunk, Damascus and Center Moreland charges in the Wyoming Conference of the United Methodist Church. Mrs. Walter was a lay leader, active in Sunday school, youth groups, choir and the UMC women's groups, as well as providing secretarial assistance to her husband throughout the years, typing his sermons, weekly bulletins and other correspondence. Mrs. Walter always loved reading and in her retirement years, she was a Literacy Volunteer.

She is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law: Kathleen and Robert Wood of Equinunk, PA, Mary and Dennis Henkel of Atlanta, GA, Deborah and Kerry Nickou of Browning, MT and Elizabeth Maude and Paul McShane of Niceville, FL. She has six grandchildren: Denise Gabel, Julie Seaman, Thomas and Donald Nickou, Erin and Kelly McShane and four great grandchildren: Robert, John and Benjamin Seaman and Sean Gabel.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 18 at 11 a.m. at the Equinunk United Methodist Church, Equinunk, PA for both Natalie Walter and her husband, Rev. Donald W. Walter. Interment of ashes for both will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Galilee, PA.
