Sophie Adams Obituary
Formerly of Toms River, NJ
Sophie R. Adams "Penny", a legal secretary for Walsh, Sciuto & Dimin, Esq. in Hackensack, NJ, and a former resident of Toms River, NJ, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at the ORMC, Arden Hill Campus in Goshen. She was 88.
The daughter of the late Joseph Santomauro and Catherine Laurelli Santomauro, she was born May 23, 1920 in Jersey City, NJ. She was the widow of Charles G. Adams.
She was also a volunteer at the Deborah Hospital in Toms River and the Toe steppers of Toms River.
She is survived by a son, Clifford P. Adams of New Jersey; a daughter, Carol Rice of Wurtsboro; three grandchildren: Pamela Rice-Woytowick & her husband, Robert, and Timothy J. Rice & his wife, Krista, all of Wurtsboro, and Michael Rice & his companion, Elizabeth Davis of Beacon; three great grandchildren: Noah Woytowick, Sanna Woytowick & Adrianna Rice; two brothers, Anthony Santomauro of Jersey City and Louie Santomauro of the state of Florida, and a sister, Gloria Rotoly of Jersey City.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
