Daniel Little Obituary

Kerhonkson, NY

Daniel J. Little of Kerhonkson, a lifelong resident and a retired 32-year engineer for IBM, Kingston, died October 9, 2008 at Benedictine Hospital, Kingston. He was 71.

The son of Walter Little and the late Dorothea Koehn Little, he was born August 6, 1937 in Ellenville. He graduated from Ellenville High School in 1955.

He was a life member of the VFW and a 35-year member of the Wawarsing Lodge #582 F&AM. Following his retirement from IBM in 1991, he was employed by H.B. Humiston Funeral Home for 11 years. He served on the Town of Wawarsing Planning Board for ten years and the Ulster County Planning Board for five years.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter and wilderness canoe enthusiast. He also enjoyed most sports, active and passive.

He served in the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Favata Little, at home; his children: Douglas Horton of Dallas, TX, Mark Little and wife, Polly of Charlotte, NC, Lisa Clancy and husband, Thomas of Westtown, NY, Jill Pennings and husband, Stephen of Warwick and Brian Little of Wooster, OH; his father, Walter Little of Ellenville; his sister, Anne Morse and husband, William of Kerhonkson; his mother-in-law, Josephine Favata of Newburgh; his brothers-in-law, Alfred Favata of Newburgh and Alfonso Favata of Kerhonkson; his sister-in-law, Gretchen Little of Ellenville; six grandchildren: Victoria and Stephen Pennings, Sean, Daniel and Colin Clancy, and Daniel Little. Several nieces, nephews and many good friends also survive. He loved them all.

He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothea Little and brother, Arthur Little, both of Ellenville.

Friends may call at Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., 79 N. Main St., Ellenville on Sunday, October 12, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate. Burial will be in The Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be sent to a charity of one's choice.

I met Dan in 1947 (+/-) in Mrs. Slater's 5th grade class. I made a friend for life. My m emories of him at school, 4H club ( thanks Mr. Little for humoring a bunch of wild kids). Cars, girls, capetting chickens, cleaning barns, holing abond of friendship even though the physical distance between us was great. Imiss you old friend
