Alfonzo Clegg Obituary
Alfonzo "Poppy" Clegg departed this life for life eternal on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 70.
Alfonzo was born December 22, 1937 to the parentage of the late Alonzo Clegg and Augusta McCoy Clegg in Dunn, NC.
A 50-year resident of the area, Alfonzo was a retired Assembly Lineman for Ford Motor Corp. in Edison, NJ, and a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
"Poppy" is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Grace Fisher Clegg; son, Altroy Clegg and his wife, Tamasia; seven daughters: Carol Clegg, Delcina Fisher, Evelyn Fisher, Alondria Haughton and her husband, Lincoln, S'telle Dennis and her husband, Scott and Hyndasha Bailey, all of Newburgh, and Sierra Forte of Wappinger Falls, NY; two brothers, Earl Clegg and his wife, Sharon of Orlando, FL, and James Clegg of Dunn, NC; three sisters: Beatrice McNeil, Del Sen Clegg, both of Dunn, NC, and Nellie Walker of Fayetteville, NC; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Curtis McNeil; daughter, Brenda Clegg; two brothers, Leroy Clegg and Troy Lee Clegg, and two sisters, Mary Catherine Clegg and Myrtle Troublefield.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 76 First St., Newburgh, NY. Services will be at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Harry Brow Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middlehope, NY.

Ms. Grace( Mamá), My heart goes out to you, but you must realize that God's plan for Mr. Alfonzo is done here. He will go to A better place without pain to rest. I would like to pray for the ones left behind because they have the pain now. I have never met any of your loveones, but I cry along with you as I write this. My love and wishes for those Mr. Alfonzo left behind.
