John Katulak Obituary

Chester, NY

John Joseph Katulak of Chester, NY, a retired elevator mechanic and supervisor for the N.Y.C. Housing Authority, entered into rest on October 9, 2008. He was 84.

The son of John and Pauline Katulak, he was born October 9, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. He was married to the late Rafaella Petrizzi.

He was a World War II, U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include: three sons, John Katulak and wife, Debra of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Robert Katulak and wife, Johanna of Florida, and Arthur Katulak of Old Bridge, NJ; three daughters, Marie Zimmerman and husband, Robert of Hughesville, PA, Therese Scharf and husband, Jonathan of Stony Point, NY, and Pauline Conti and husband, Anthony of Bayside, NY; 11 grandchildren: David Katulak, Lauren Sorrentino and husband, James, Robert Katulak, Joseph Katulak, Erica Katulak, Jaqueline Cruz and husband, David, Michael Fernald - USMC, Stephanie Scharf, Samantha Scharf, Silvanna Conti, and Nicholas Conti; four great-grandchildren: Hailee Katulak, Alex Katulak, Nadyia Cruz, and Abigail Cruz; three sisters, Cecilia Sadowy, Veronica Katulak and Margaret Katulak, all of Queens, NY; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held today, Monday, October 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 at T.S. Purta F.H., 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921.

Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, at St. Joseph's Church, 20 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Flushing, NY.
