Marian Giglio Obituary

Middletown, NY

Marian, a 6-year resident of Middletown, NY, died peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2008, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York after a courageous battle with a long illness. She was 54.

The daughter of the late John and Catherine Anselm Dory, she was born March 1, 1954 in Manhattan, NY.

Marian was part of the admissions staff at Columbia University Medical School in New York City and provided childcare to many. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Middletown. Prior to moving to the Middletown area, she was a member, lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Gabriel's Church in Riverdale. Marian's deep faith and participation in her church brought her comfort throughout her life. Her family, friends and every animal she encountered brought her special joy.

She is survived by her husband, William Giglio, at home; daughter, Frances Brooks and her husband, Shawn of Wallkill; son, Gerard Doyle, at home; her siblings: Andrea Dory of the Bronx, Peter Dory of Poughkeepsie, Cathleen Powers of Middletown, William Dory and his wife, Mary of Brooklyn, and Paula Dory of Highland Falls; numerous cousins, nephews and a niece. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, John T. Powers; sister-in-law, Olga Dory and mother-in-law, Roseann Giglio.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, October 13, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 14, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Interment will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Marian's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.

I remember the funniest things you've said! I crack up everytime I replay it over in my mind....The last time i saw you made me so happy knowing i made you feel beautiful when you didnt feel at your best. Doing something so small made you so happy...I feel honored to have been able to do that for you...I wish you had a chance to read the card i got you...now I'll just whisper it to myself and I know you'll hear me. Wow...I cant believe you're not here but only in our hearts....
