Dorothy Tompkins Obituary

Newburgh, NY

Dorothy A. Tompkins of Newburgh, a retired employee of Stanwyck Winding Company and a longtime resident of the area, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Goshen. She was 83.

The daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Maher, she was born September 30, 1925 in Newburgh, NY. She was the widow of James Tompkins, Jr..

Survivors include her daughters: Patricia Himmelreich of Colorado, Christine Carlyon of Newburgh, and Dorothy Rodriguez Nelson of Kingston; sister, Josephine Sheehan of Newburgh; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 17 from 5-8 p.m. at the White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd., Town of Newburgh.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 18, at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary, South St., Newburgh with Father William Scafidi officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.

Arrangements are by the White & Venuto Funeral Home; 845-562-6550.
