Phyllis Marticek Obituary

Scotchtown, NY

Phyllis F. Marticek, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus in Middletown, NY.

She was born in Tarrytown to her wonderful mother and father, Else (Block) and Alfred Adler.

Phyllis was raised in Brooklyn, then moved to the Bronx in the early 1950's to raise her four children, working day and night baking, waitressing, making hats for her mother's business at night and in her later years, babysitting. She moved to the Scotchtown area in the early 80's.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 46 years, Andrew J. Marticek, at home; her four children: Susan Vaccaro of Middletown, Paul Fogel and his wife, Victoria of Florence, KY, Jonathan Fogel of Forest Hills, Queens, and Robert Fogel and his wife, Denine of Cold Springs, FL. She also leaves 11 beloved grandchildren: Richard, Gerald, Lori, Tina, Aylee, Tye, Keith, Karyn, Selena, Olivia and Justin and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held this evening, Thursday, October 16, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY. A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, October 17, at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.
