Joseph Dombroski Obituary

Newburgh, NY

Joseph V. Dombroski, of Newburgh, entered into rest on Thursday, October 16, 2008 in St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 82.

Son of the late John and Victoria Dombroski, he was born November 7, 1925 in Newburgh. He was married to Virginia Dombroski, who predeceased him in 2003.

Joseph proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and earned the Asiatic Pacific Medal with 5 stars, American Theatre Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Victory Medal. He retired from IBM, Poughkeepsie, attended Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh and was a member of the Holy Name Society.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Lisa Ward and her husband, Jim of Newburgh; grandchildren, Justin and Brendan Ward of Newburgh, Kristen Degli-Angeli, her husband, Michael, and their children, Hailey and Logan of Montgomery; sisters, Helene Stagliano and her husband, Nicholas of Newburgh and Eleanor Hanyan of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 19 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 20 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Francis Cemetery, New Windsor.
