Luis Gallardo Obituary
Luis A. Gallardo, an 11-year area resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan. He was 49.
The son of Maria Ibanez Gallardo and the late Lorenzo Gallardo, he was born October 19, 1958 in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Luis helped many families and clients through counseling as a social worker in his private practice. He was a member of the National Association of Social Workers in Washington, D.C.; a former member of the Town of Highlands Ambulance Corps; a member of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Highland Falls, and was coach of the Division Champion Bombers Town of Highlands Soccer League for six years.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Kirschenbaum Gallardo, at home; son, Brian Gallardo of Hartford, CT; daughter, Gabrielle Gallardo, at home; mother, Maria Gallardo of Hopewell Junction; brothers, Juan and Miguel Gallardo of the Bronx, NY; sisters: Sara Piniero of Mahopac, Elizabeth Santiago of Westtown, Maria Halpin of Smithtown, Beatriz Lenane of Hopewell Junction and Milagros Gonzalez of the Bronx, NY; four grandchildren: Brian Jr., Tatiana, Aliyah and Avelyse; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 20, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 21, at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Judith A. Ferguson officiating. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
