Howard Seaman Obituary

Cornwall, NY

Howard A. Seaman, Sr., a lifelong resident of Cornwall and retired Assistant Fire Chief of West Point, entered into rest on Monday, October 20, 2008. He was 94.

Son of the late Egbert and Martha Johnston Seaman, he was born on March 29, 1914 in Salisbury Mills, NY. He married Violet Cutler Seaman on November 18, 1943; who predeceased him in 2004.

A family statement reads: "Pa loved being with his family and was especially happy when playing with his great-granchildren. He enjoyed a long and healthy life. He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends."

Howard graduated from Washingtonville High School and Spencers School of Business. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning the World War II Victory, American Campaign and Good Conduct medals.

He is survived by his loving son, Howard Seaman, Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Cornwall; grandchildren, Michael Seaman and his wife, Rita of Cornwall, Eric Seaman and his wife, Kerry of Wallkill; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Aidan of Cornwall, Evan and Trevor of Wallkill, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Lester, Walter, Ronald and James Seaman.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, October 23 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.

I didnt know him personally but my grandpa has always told us fond stories of his "uncle stump" I now he will be missed My condolences go out to all that knew him.

Howard and family I was so saddened to hear about your Dad. I don't get into Cornwall much any more but about two weeks ago I got to drive thru Firthcliffe and there was your dad's house, just like I remember. Both your parents were wonderful people.. You come from good stock!! God bless your all

Howard & Brenda we are so sorry to hear that your Father has left us the way he did , so sad since he was so Active and seemed so healthy always , we always Loved Him and your Mom so much , they knew when i Drove by the House alway i would beep the horn and always a Wave and Smile from them both. Your Dad was a very Quite Guy and always Happy My wave to the House will never be the same again and i am sure i will always look over at the Porch each time i pass in years to come when i'am in town and yes i will Wave !!!! Our Condolences to the Grandkids as well , Just sorry we couldn t be there at this time when thats what family is for .

My condolences to Howard and family. Your Dad had away about him that will be remembered by all who ever met him. I can still remember him building your home on Frost ln. Those were happy times,and so long ago.
