Bloomingburg, NY

Diane Crispell Decker Rometo, 72, of Bloomingburg, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Orange Regional Medical Center at Horton, Middletown, NY.

Diane was the daughter of the late Harry V. and Leah Sinnamon Decker. She was born on September 21, 1936 in Middletown, NY.

She worked as a medical secretary at Horton Hospital, and as a bookkeeper for Rometo Trucking Co. for 44 years. She was an avid reader, faithful member of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Bloomingburg.

She enjoyed being actively involved in organizing events for the Middletown High School Class of 1954 Reunion Committee, and enjoyed dining out with her husband. She took great joy in doting on her grandchildren. She touched all of our lives and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, Vito P. Rometo at home; three daughters: Laura Emerson and her husband, Jim of South New Berlin, NY, Angie Meier and her husband, Doug of Spring Glen, and Leah Hindley and her husband, Rob of Middletown; her son, Frank Rometo and his wife, Cindee of Walden; her brother, Harry V. Decker, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Hyde Park; 11 grandchildren, her pride and joy: Nick, Dan, Delani, Alaina, Christian, Corey, Jacqueline, Zachary, Charlie Marie, Saylor and baby Hindley. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lucy D'Amato and her husband, Ugo and Mary Fanelli and her husband, Mike; brother-in-law, Leonard Rometo and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin children, Franchesca Ann and Frank Peter.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, October 26, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Morse Funeral Home, Inc., 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Middletown, at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 27. Entombment will follow in the Mother Queen of Peace Mausoleum, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Diane's name may be made to The American Heart Association, 419 East Main St, Middletown, NY 10940.

Arrangements are under the guidance of Morse Funeral Home, Inc., Middletown; 845-343-6918.
