Helen Skizenski Obituary

Hankins, NY

Helen N. Skizenski, 83, of Hankins, NY, a 43-year resident of the area, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home, Roscoe, NY.

The daughter of the late Andrew J. and Theresa Ryan Howell, she was born November 2, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY.

She was a retired secretary for the Delaware Valley School in Callicoon and had served with the United Nations in India in the 1940's. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Callicoon.

Survivors include her husband, George Skizenski; three sisters: Theresa Grimm of Brooklyn, Joan Kennedy of Long Island and Agnes McLouchlin of Brooklyn; four brothers: Joseph Howell of Brooklyn, Charles Howell of Brooklyn, James Howell of the state of Florida and Thomas Howell of Long Island, NY, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marie Howell, Madeline Hubbard and her brothers, Eugene Howell, Gerard Howell, Frank Howell and Andrew Howell.

Friends may call Sunday, October 26, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main St., Callicoon.

Funeral Mass will be Monday, October 27, at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Callicoon with Father Ignatius Smith OFM officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Long Eddy, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
