Ruth Gutcheus Obituary
Daughter of the late John and Elin Osterberg Nystrom, she was born on January 11, 1916 in Newburgh. She was married to the late Herbert Gutcheus. Ruth attended the Newburgh schools, was a member of Moulton Memorial Baptist Church, and worked in the cafeteria of North Jr. High School for 20 years. "Ruth has spent many long months receiving blessings from the faithful Hospice staff and support from dear friends and family. In return, her humor, love and faith have enriched all of our lives."
Survivors include her son, Robert Gutcheus Sr. and his wife Naomi of Newburgh; daughter, Elin Walsh and her husband William of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Jill Jeffrey, William Jr., Matthew and Elizabeth Walsh, and Annette Gutcheus; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her brothers, Harold and John Nystrom; sister Mildred Townsend; and grandson, Robert Gutcheus Jr, predeceased her.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, October 8th at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh, NY 12550. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9th at Moulton Memorial Baptist Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550.

Ruth was a wonderful woman. She always had time for you and was pleasant to be with.
