Lawrence Martello Obituary
Larry was born July 29, 1932 in Manhattan, N.Y., the son to the late Michael and Rose Palumbo Martello. Larry was also predeceased by his sister, Marie.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Patricia; his dear children, Debra Malitz of Washingtonville, N.Y., Lawrence (Ann Marie) Martello of Campbell Hall, N.Y., Karen (Matthew) Poveromo of Washingtonville, N.Y.; stepchildren, John (Rebecca) Emanuel III and Lance (Sheila) Emanuel, both of Horseheads, N.Y.; ten grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; his beloved canine "nurse", Rosie; brother, Michael (Josephine) Martello of Millville, Del.; sister, Rachael (Frank) Curcio; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Larry proudly served many years as a police officer in the New York City Police Dept. and after his retirement served as a deputy sheriff with the Orange County NY Sheriff's Dept. He was the owner and president of New York's Finest Martello Real Estate, Inc., founder and past president of the Lakes Region Italian American Club, past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Washingtonville, N.Y., and past president of the Orange County Shields, a police organization in Monroe, N.Y. Larry loved his family and friends dearly and enjoyed entertaining them with his great sense of humor and music. He also enjoyed boating, camping, music and classic cars.
The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13 Horseheads, NY 607-739-2035 on Sunday, October 7, 2007, from 2-4 p.m.
Mr. Martello's Funeral Service will take place immediately following at 4 p.m.
Interment will be held at St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery at convenience of the family.

Karen, Debbie and Larry, Our hearts go out to all of you in this sad time. Your dad always brought a smile to our faces with his sense of humor. It is nice to know that at some point in our lives, we will all be able to be together once again eternally; until that time, he will be watching over all of you with pride and love.

I remember your dad from the days when he was Grand Knight and Sundays after Mass were spent at the KofC, parents in the lounge and the kids outside.

I'm saddened to hear of Larry's passing. We worked together at Maxum Realty many years ago, where he was fondly known as "Mr Wonderful". He was a great guy with a good sense of humor and will be missed. My condolences to the entire family.

I had the pleasure of working with him while he was employed with the Sheriff's Office and he was such a beautiful person. He always had a good story for you and we shared a few good laughs together. Martello was one of a kind. He loved all of you and he will be sadly missed.
