Anne C. Gallagher

Newburgh - Anne C. Gallagher of Newburgh, a homemaker and longtime resident of the area, died Saturday, October 13, 2007. The Gallagher Family has a long-standing devotion to Our Lady of Fatima. The date of her death coincides with the 90th anniversary of the last apparition of Our Lady to the children of Fatima. She was 99.

The daughter of Edward and Mary Gately, she was born August 12, 1908 in Jersey City, N.J. She was the widow of Frank X. Gallagher who predeceased her in 1961.

Anne had been a partner with her husband and father operating the Stratford Inn, a summer resort in Avon by the Sea, N.J.

Survivors include her son Edward F. X. Gallagher and his wife Cornelia of Newburgh; daughters Mary G. Roach and her husband Charles C. of Kingston and Anne G. Galvin and her husband William J. of Vero Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and sister Mary Neville of Somerville, N.J.

She was predeceased by brothers Thomas, Edward & William Gately.

Visitation will be Monday, October 15 from 4-8 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd. (Route 32), Newburgh.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, October 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Patricks Church, 55 Grand St., Newburgh. The Rev. John Roach, Cornelia's brother and Msgr. John Budwick will concelebrate at a Mass for Christian Burial.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.
