I stumbled upon this page while researching a little ceramic cowboy hat I found at an antique shop in Southern California. Printed on the hat was a drawing of a vivacious cowgirl on a horse, waving her hat as she hollered `Howdy Folks!´ to any passer by.
After reading these beautiful memories, it´s clear that this simple drawing was a vivid depiction of Joan. A woman just as vivacious and jovial, with an intense drive and love for the people around her. Her legacy will undoubtably live on in the minds and hearts of those who knew her-and will continue to inspire people who find a little ceramic cowboy hat at an antique shop in Southern California with her name on it...
RIP Joan, what a lady!

Grandma Joan....You are an inspiration & a role model. You are so much a part of me & you will be greatly missed. I will never forget your red kitchen & the times in Arizona.

Herb and Family
Joan was a class act and we will always remeber how much fun
she and our parents had together in Arizona with you guys. One story
that stays to mind is the time Joan put her Indian head dress on Moose.
I will also remeber the great times with watching her in the great
outfits on the lead horse at the track. The cowgirl will be missed by
all who new her. So when the Marshall calls the pacers She should say
Howdy to Moose and Bea. You are always in our thoughts and prayers.
