Joan Durland Obituary

Coconut Creek, FL - Joan "Bubbles" D. Durland died unexpectedly on October 17, 2007 in Coconut Creek, Fla. She was 68.

The daughter of the late Henry and Mae Kreusch Morieko, she was born November 9, 1938 in Jersey City, N.J.

Joan was the youngest of eight children and was a longtime resident of both Jersey City, N.J. and Middletown, N.Y. Following her retirement from the New York State Hospital system, Joan resided in Coconut Creek, Fla.

"As a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Caregiver and Friend; she was a strong, beautiful woman with a kind and gentle heart. Her love, generosity, dedication and devotion to others will never be forgotten. Each day we will remember and cherish the wonderful memories she left behind. She will be sadly missed."

Joan is survived by her son, Richard Durland and his wife, Kelly and grandson, Tyler David Durland, all of Coconut Creek, Fla.; three brothers: Robert Morieko of New Jersey, Richard Morieko of California and Henry Morieko of New Jersey; three sisters: Anna Mae Dressler of New Jersey, Lorraine Dunlap of Maryland and Patricia Ostin of New Jersey; one brother-in-law, Floyd Durland of Middletown, and several nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Morieko.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940.

A Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Dan Hulseapple will officiate. Burial will take place on Saturday, October 27, at 11 a.m. in Hurleyville Cemetery, Hurleyville.
