Charles Christopher Obituary

Montgomery - Charles "Chuck/Charlie" Edwin Christopher, a former long-time resident of Nyack, N.Y. before moving to Montgomery in 2000, died peacefully at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. on Thursday, October 25, 2007. Charlie was 67 years old.

The son of James and Helen Christopher, Charlie was born July 10, 1940 in Minor Hill, Tennessee and grew up in various locations, as his dad was and iron worker. The family settled in Nyack in 1954 with the building of the Tappan Zee Bridge. Charlie graduated from Nyack High School in 1958 and attended Columbia Military School in Tennessee as well as Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta. He also attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J.

His professional career as a computer analyst and consultant spanned over forty years, working for Price Waterhouse, Pepsi, Hartz Mountain and Ajilon. Charlie was instrumental in the Y2K conversion for NBC in both New York and California.

He was a fifty-year member of Mazeppa Engine Company #2 and the Nyack Fire Dept. Charlie enjoyed spending time with friends and family as he was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan, never losing faith in either. He enjoyed farming and gardening for many years on his farm, Fox Tail Farm in Montgomery where he also enjoyed his hobby of fly-tying. As a gentle man, his dry sense of humor brought smiles to many.

Charlie is survived by: his loving wife, Deborah (Anderson); his beloved daughters, Heidi of Montgomery, Ami of Monticello, and his most cherished grandbaby, Jessseca Danielle; his brother, Jim (Carol) of Norfolk, V.A.; his sisters Annie (Peter) Christopher-Backman, and Linda (Adam) Christopher-Peel; and several nieces and nephews. He will also be dearly missed by his "adopted" granddaughter, Brianne Flanick.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 29th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Hanneman Funeral Home Inc., Nyack. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30th at the funeral home. The Mazeppa Engine Co. #2 will hold a firematic service on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cremation will be done at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Charlie's name to the "Maria Fareri Children's Hospital Foundation" at Westchester Medical Center, 1 Kids Corner, Bldg. 9, Valhalla, NY 10595-1644

Arrangements are under the care of Hanneman Funeral Home, 88 S. Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960. 845-358-0573
