Josephine Guadagno Obituary

November 5, 1919 - November 4, 2007

Newburgh - Josephine E. Guadagno, a longtime resident of the area, entered into rest on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at home. She was 87. Daughter of the late Frank and Antoinette Lavaglio DeAngelo, she was born November 5, 1919 in Lynbrook, Long Island. She was married to her beloved husband, Freddy, for 57 years. Freddy predeceased Josie in 2006. Josie was a leather handbag machine operator for Poppy Handbag in Newburgh, and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Josie has now gone to join her beloved husband, Freddy, in eternal happiness. She was a kind, devoted, generous and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her kindness and generosity will never be forgotten, as she always put her family needs before her own. She loved to cook, especially on Sundays when all her family gathered for dinner. "Even through her Alzheimer's disease, her concern for others was still apparent, as she continually offered whatever she had to others around her. God Bless You, Mom, and we will see you later." Survivors include her loving children, Alfred Guadagno and his wife, Marie, and Angela Hare and her husband, Thomas; her sister, Jennie Magliato; her brother, Dominick DeAngelo; her grandson, Michael Hare, all of Newburgh; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Freddy, Josie was predeceased by her brothers: William, Peter and Angelo, and sisters, Angelina and Minnie. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY 12550. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
