Sam Savaglio Obituary

October 10, 1961 - November 2, 2007

Chester - Sam Louie "SAMMY" Savaglio of Chester, a Sweeper for the Town of Chester Highway Department for 22 years and a lifelong resident of the area, died Friday, November 2, 2007 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill Campus, Goshen, N.Y. He was 46 years of age. The son of the late Louis Savaglio and Mary Pulvirent-Weatherwax he was born October 10, 1961 at Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen, N.Y. Sammy was a member of Teamsters Local Union 445 and an Honorary Member of Patsy's Clam Bar. Sammy was dedicated to his fellow workers and the community of Chester with his 22 years of service to the Town of Chester; he was equally dedicated to his family. "Sammy was neat and dependable." Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann McKenna-Savaglio, at home; his stepdaughter, Allison McKenna of Chester, and stepson, Sean McKenna of Chester; his mother, Mary Pulvirent-Weatherwax of Kentucky, and sister, Marie Ann Dukes of Hopkinsville, Ky., along with his niece, Nikki Dukes-Huff of Nashville, Tenn., and nephew, Chet Dukes of Hopkinsville, Ky., along with numerous friends from work and the Chester Community. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 6, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, November 7, from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, 139 Stage Rd., Monroe, NY 10950. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, November 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Columba R.C. Church, 29 High St., Chester, NY 10918. Burial will follow at St. Columba R.C. Church Parish Cemetery, Route 94, Chester, N.Y. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas F. Flynn, Director of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers.
