Richard Zeider Obituary

Napanoch - Richard Zeider of Napanoch, a retired correctional officer at Eastern New York Correctional Facility, Napanoch, died November 4, 2007 at Kingston Hospital. He was 78.

The son of Anthony Joseph Zeider, Sr. and Rose Jicha Zeider, he was born April 25, 1929 in Yaphank, NY. He was a past fire Commissioner for the Napanoch Fire District and a life member of the Napanoch Fire Company and the Napanoch Fire Police. Dick was also a member of the Cook-Taylor Post fill American Legion and served in the United States Army, Dick was the organizing president of the Association of fire Districts of Ulster County from 1982-1985.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Furman Zeider at home; two sons: Robert Zeider and his wife, Susan of Rock Hill, S.C., Thomas Zeider and His wife, Deborah of Napanoch; one granddaughter Dana Zeider; also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother John, Anthony, Jr., Theodore, and James.

Friends may call at Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., 79 N. Main Street, Ellenville, on Wednesday, November 7, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, November 8, at the funeral home, the Rev. Eileen Daunt will officiate. Burial will be at the Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville. The Napanoch Fire Co. will hold services on Wednesday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Contributions in his memory, may be sent to St. Marks United Methodist Church, 35 Church Street, Napanoch, NY 12458.
