Joseph Flannery Obituary

Suwanee, GA - Joseph J. Flannery Sr., a resident of the Atlanta, Ga. suburb since 2002 entered into rest on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Chestnut Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cumming, Ga. He was 88 years old.

The son of the late Patrick and Mary Adams Flannery, he was born in Roseton, N.Y. on August 18, 1919. He was married to Ethel Kniffin Flannery, who predeceased him on October 1, 2004.

Joseph was a World War II Army veteran who saw action in both France and Germany.

He is survived by: one son, Joseph J. Flannery, Jr., and his wife, Angela, of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, John Flannery of Newburgh; two grandchildren, Julia Flannery and Laura Flannery of Atlanta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

One sister, Mary Lust, and one brother, Patrick Flannery, predeceased him.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 30, at the Engel Funeral Home, Inc., 5319 Rt. 9W, Newburgh (Middlehope), NY 12550.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 1, at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Roseton, N.Y. at 10 a.m. The Rev. Edward Bader will be the celebrant. Interment with full military honors will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
