Salvatore Alonge Obituary

Greenwood Lake - Salvatore T. Alonge, formerly of Brooklyn and NYC, died on Friday, November 30, 2007 at the Schervier Pavilion. He was 89 years old.

Born on July 9, 1918 in New York City, he was the son of the late William and Genoffa (Sapienza) Alonge. He was married to the late Marie L. Vernola Alonge (2001).

Mr. Alonge served with the US Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion in Greenwood Lake. He was a self-employed door-to-door salesman in New York City and Brooklyn. He was a member of Holy Rosary R.C. Church in Greenwood Lake. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and an active member of the Greenwood Lake Senior Center.

A family statement read: "He was known for his love of life."

He is survived by his daughter, Lucia Bonnier and her husband, Douglas, of Warwick; two grandchildren, Jesse and Ryan, of Warwick; two sisters, Vivian Montante and Angela San Giorgia - both of Brooklyn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His brother, Andrew Alonge, predeceased him.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 3rd, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4th at Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Greenwood Lake. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Queens.

Memorial donations may be made to Greenwood Lake Senior Center, Windermere Ave, Greenwood Lake, NY 10925.
