Celia Frisch Obituary

Wurtsboro - Celia Frisch, a recent resident of Wurtsboro, formerly of Tarrytown, N.Y. and also Blauvelt, N.Y. entered into rest on November 29, 2007 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 87 years old.

The daughter of the late Nathan and Annie Bolanzy Hirschorn, Celia was born December 27, 1919 in Boston, Mass. Celia was an accomplished musician and teacher who achieved her first radio show at the age of 14. Her career extended to the "Boston Pops" with Leonard Bernstein, The New York Philharmonic and the Brooklyn Philharmonic. Celia was President of Myra Music Publishing Company for the past three decades, and was a member of the "American Music Publishers", "ASCAP", "The Harry Fox Agency", "CMRRA", and the Ethical Society of Westchester. Her true love was teaching music, which she began as a teenager and continued with chamber music to the present day. Her love of life and learning truly showed in everything she accomplished. Celia's talent and intellect have preceded her throughout her life and was recognized by Marquis "WHO'S WHO."

Her loving husband, musician and songwriter Albert T. Frisch, who wrote and published many classics such as "Two Different Worlds", "This Is No Laughing Matter", "I Won't Cry Anymore", and the Honeymooner's theme song, "My Love Song to You", predeceased her. Celia's daughter, Myra J. Frisch-Bennett and her husband, Gregg, her two grandchildren Seth and Samantha Bennett of Mountaindale, her sister, Dena Kissin, and her husband, Kenneth and their children, Barry, Gale and Jody, her niece, Barbara Tractenberg and her nephew, Jack Trautenberg, cousins Norman and Barbara Checkoway, and countless friends survive her.

Her music and our memory of her will forever be remembered. She did it her way.

Family will receive friends on Monday, December 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 4, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
