Frank Giza Obituary

New Hampton - Frank L. Giza, a retired owner & operator of G.L.S. & Company of New Hampton and a retired Town of Wawayanda Justice for 20 years, entered into rest on Friday, November 30, 2007 in O.R.M.C., Horton Campus, after a long illness. He was 77.

The son of Frank L. and Helen Wiesnewski Giza, he was born on April 11, 1930 in Goshen, N.Y. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.

Frank was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, where he was a charter member of the Mt. Carmel Lay Council serving three years as its Trustee. He also helped organize the Mt. Carmel Polish dances and volunteered extensively for school fundraisers and events. He also volunteered extensively for Boy Scout Troop #61, lending a hand at numerous events and activities.

Frank was also a member of the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society where he was named Polish American Citizen of the Year for 2000-2001; 40-year member of the Benevolent Protection Order of the Elks #1097, Middletown; the Greenville V.F.W. #3175; American Legion Post #151, Middletown; The Mt. Hope Seniors, and the New York State Magistrates Association.

Survivors include: his beloved wife of 55 years, Josephine Shuback Giza, at home; two sons, Jeffrey Giza and wife, Joanne of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dennis Giza of New York City; two grandchildren, Zachary and Abbey Giza of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters: Hattie Pieczontka, Dorothy Mabee and Jane Shuback, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Gary Giza; four brothers: Stephen, Myron, Edward and Barney Giza, and four sisters: Blanche Todd, Elizabeth Poloniak, Helen Ferris and Julie Pahucki.

Friends may call on Monday, December 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell, Inc. Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY 10940.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Euclid Ave. Ext., Middletown, N.Y. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Pine Island, N.Y.

In memory of Frank and his son, Gary, memorial contributions may be made to The National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 32nd St., NY, NY 10016.
