Barbara Cronin Obituary

New Windsor, NY - After a courageous 15 months with ovarian cancer, Barbara passed away peacefully and with dignity at home on Sunday, December 2, 2007. Born July 29, 1940, Barbara was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Doyle Cronin. She was born in Floral Park, N.Y., where she lived most of her life. She also lived in Mahopac Falls, N.Y. and has been a New Windsor resident for the past 12 years, where she was a member of St. Joseph's Church.

Barbara is survived by her loving nephew, Scott Cronin and his wife Nicole; her two beloved great-nieces, Ashley Elizabeth and Angela Rose Cronin; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Cronin; several cousins, including Joan Dziubela, with whom she grew up; and her Goddaughter, Sister Marie Michelle.

Barbara was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Donald Cronin.

Visitation will be held at Coloni Funeral Home Wednesday, December 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Rt 9W, New Windsor. The Rev. Hilfiker officiating on Thursday, December 6 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the many friends who cared for Barbara during her illness. Deep gratitude is expressed to Dr. Russ Karp of DRA Imaging, whose loving kindness and generosity to Barbara was immense; to Dr. Michael Maresca and the doctors, nurses and staff at Hudson Valley Hematology Oncology; and the nurses and staff at the Dyson Infusion Center. Special thanks to Steve Voloshin of the Vassar Bros. Care Center, who was instrumental in seeing that Barbara received all the necessary care and treatment, and to the hospice team who cared for Barbara in her last weeks.

In lieu of flowers, at Barbara's request, all memorial contributions may be made to Vassar Bros Medical Center Care Center and the Dyson Infusion Center at Vassar Brothers Hospital, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or to Hospice of Orange County, Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
