Edith Ann Brasefield Wood

Edith Ann (Buck) Brasefield Wood, 79, of Buchanan, beloved and greatly missed wife, sister, mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009. Born in Roanoke on January 28, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Nannie Campbell and Hubert M. Brasefield. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Elver (Pete) Brasefield Parrish and brother-in-law, James Parrish. She was a pharmacy technician for many years at Powell's Pharmacy in Salem, and was formerly a member of both Belmont Baptist Church, Emmanuel Baptist Church, and currently was a member of Arcadia Baptist Church. Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas Eugene Wood; a daughter, Susan W. Walters and husband, Brian, of Buchanan; a son, Thomas E. Wood, Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Goodview; three sisters, Judy Rollen and husband, Jim, Mary Shelton and husband, Carlton, Hilda Strickler and husband, Gerald; six grandchildren, Richard "Bo" Wood, Shawn Wood, Michael Wood, Chris Walters, Jenea Wood, Brittany Wood; three great-grandchildren, Austin Ross, Devin Clark, Mikayla Wood; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Roanoke Chapel of Lotz Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wesley Patterson officiating.
