Frank Mirabella Obituary

Frank Joseph Mirabella September 17, 1936 - June 15, 2009 Passed away suddenly at his home in Millbrae where he resided for the past 40 years. He was born in San Francisco to the late Frank and Alba Mirabella. Frank was the loving husband of 49 years to Martha; loving father to Diane Pessagno and Frank (Maria) Mirabella; beloved grandfather to Michael and Stephen Pessagno and Frankie Mirabella; brother-in-law to Angela Bacchi and Frank Concerti; loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Frank graduated from Mission High School in June of 1954. Frank was first baseman from Little League all the way through Old Man's Softball and was selected first string All City 1st baseman by the Call Bulletin in his senior year. In recent years, he took great joy in watching his grandsons play the game he loved so much. He was a long-time season ticket holder to the SF 49ers from the days of Kezar Stadium through the five Super Bowls that he attended. His other passion was golf which he played at least three days a week since he retired. His greatest joy, however, was time spent with his family. As many life-long friends would say "Frank was one of a kind." He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Family and friends may visit after 4 PM on Thursday, June 18, 2009 and attend the Vigil service at 7 PM at CHAPEL OF THE HIGHLANDS, 194 Millwood Dr. at El Camino Real in Millbrae. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Dunstan Catholic Church, 1133 Broadway in Millbrae. Committal will follow at the Italian Cemetery in Colma. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Assn. or the charity of your choice.

Dean Martha,
I am so sorry about Frank. I will miss his phone calls. He talked, I listened! I remember our days at Portala Park and Bayview Park. I always enjoyed his letters when he was in the Army. I will always be thankful for coming to my aid for Janay's home. If there is anything I can do for you don't hesitate to call.
Love,

I know nothing can be said to make the pain of losing a loved one subside, however I do know that the love and support from friends and family helps a great deal. I feel like I was just being told the ol’ “I’m lucky to have friends that are cops.” story. My fiancée and I were sitting at the table enjoying the story for the 5th time over coffee and cake. None the less I was always all ears for any story that Uncle Frank was willing to tell. All of the memories made at that dining room table will never be forgotten, and will always be missed. Michael, Stephen and Frankie I know how hard it is right now, I was just there, but know that you were the smile on Uncle Frank’s face, the joy in his stories told, and a big part in what made his life so great. My thoughts, love and prayers are will you all,
Amanda

Dear Mirabella's and related family,
Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. May God give you the strength in getting thru the tough days ahead. May you be reminded of all the wonderful memories you hold dear to your heart. A wonderful man has made an impact on many lives by the life he lived. A gentle giant!
We had many years of seeing your Dad and Mom picking up the boys, dropping them off or just always being there. Funny, seeing his picture here, I remember all the time about Steve loving his hair and they would joke about "having good hair"!
Love you all, know that we are here for you in anything that you need.
Love, Lisa, Steve, Sara and Dylan Sievers - San Carlos

Dear Martha

It's hard to conceive a world without Frank in it. We had such wonderful conversations on the phone (he really loved the phone) and at our dinners. He was fortunate to be one of those people who loved life and his family and enjoyed them to the fullest. I will never forget him.

Love you

Hey Unc,
I'm gonna miss you and the way you always said "NEPHEW LARRY!" every time you saw me. You were so easy to talk to and an even better listener. I'll miss you stopping by my work to visit whenever you were in the area and the way you laughed at the "oooh, aaah, sharrrp" when gifts were opened.
Love you Unc.
Oh, and say hi to my dad up there will ya?

Dear Mirabella, Bacchi, and all related families: Marty and I are so sad to hear of Frank's passing. I actually heard about it from one of his many friends. He was a great guy and helped niece Jeanene stay optomistic about buying her first home. Our thoughts especially go out to Martha. They don't make 'em like this guy anymore. Ciao bello! Sempre avanti.....

Dear Mirabella Family,
Frank sold us our first home in Millbrae, the one in which we're still living. He was so kind and patient with us as we were barely in our 20s and the whole process was scary. He did everything to make it a piece of cake. Please know that he will always have a special place in our memories of our home. Our deepest sympathies to your family for your loss.

Uncle Frank,
"Wait a while", "Faaaantastic", "Awwwwhhh". I can still hear you saying these words. You were just here in my home. I feel like you still are here with us. I will miss you so much and I can hardly believe you’re gone. Thank you so much for all of your love and support and for being such a wonderful Uncle to me. I'm so lucky to have spent so much time with you especially since my father died. I truly enjoyed Friday night dinner with Auntie Martha, Uncle Frank and Mom. We will not be the same without you.
Love always, your favorite Niece, Jeanene

Mr. Mirabella had been the most appreciative patient of mine. It was always a pleasure to see him and to spend time chatting with him. He ALWAYS showed up looking like a million bucks with the meticulously done hair and beard. His family had been his first priority as he always spoke lovingly about them. He exemplified the good old hard working, giving, and loving man. It was a great privilege to have worked with Mr. Mirabella. All his appreciations and encouragements made me a better man. He will be greatly missed.

I have so many wonderful memories of Frank. He always had a smile on his face and was so vibrant and full of life.
He was always one of my favorite "Dads". He was always so interested in what we were all doing. As far back as 40 years ago, when we were all kids, he listened and cared about what we had to say.
We will all miss him so much. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Frank, just saying "Thank you" is not enough for all the years that we have shared together and being a big part of my family.
You laughed with me in all the joys of my life and cried with me through my sorrows.
You loved my children and grandchildren as your own and for that I will always be truly thankful.
Hey don't get me wrong Frank, there was one thing you didn't get quite right. It's "SALT AND PEPPER" not "PEPPER AND SALT"!
To me Frank you were more than my brother-in-law, to me you were and always will be my big brother.
Love Angie

Dad, you will be so missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love you. Your memory will live on in the people you have touched. I was the luckiest son in the world to have you as my father. I am a better man because of your example. I know you are playing first base and making a hole in one in Heaven. I love you Dad.
Your son,
Frank Jr.
