Tony. 12/11/22 I learned that François died at 71 _ 72 in Jan. He set this site up and was so good to us to connect us to family. He was very big in signs and coincidences. DAD's and his death and birth dates are just the thing he would notice. 16 years. So fast. Glad we are close. JEANNIE

I am sorry to hear of your loss. Even though I did not know your father, I share your pain of losing your father. I lost my father on October 17th of this year and I too not only lost my father, I lost my mentor and my best friend. You will have a tough time for a while as I am having, but I am told, it will ease and the good memories will all that remain. Those memories will bring emotion and tears, but they will be tears of fondness. I will pray for you and your family.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

To Tony and Jeannie,
I only had two visits with your father. We talked about people and places both old and new in regards to the Dundee/Elgin area, I was looking forward to many more visits, however God had a different plan. You both were very fortunate to have a father that was very active in your lives and loved you dearly. So, hold those memories close to your hearts with tears of joyfulness not tears of sorrow for I believe that's how your father would want to be remembered, and to share with others those positive traits of character that he instilled in both of you through-out your life.

My deepest sympathies to you Jeannie and Tony on your loss. Jim was a great man. He gave me my start in the printing industry when I was 14 and taught me so much over the 18 years that I worked for him. Everyone at Fox Valley Typesetting was like family. I will always remember the good times we had at the FVT Christmas Parties where Jim invited customers, friends, and employees' families and everyone was treated like one big happy family. Jim's kindness will never be forgotten by anyone whos life was touched by him.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of our father. My father passed over 15 years ago. I have found that the memories of your father that now bring you sorrow, will one day be the same memories that bring you the most joy. "Remember the good times", that's what my dad always said.

My sympathy to Jeannie and her brother, Tony on the death of your father. There are so many memories of Chester Avenue and the families that were part of that community. Some of the things I remember about your Dad is his laughter and his cigar. His tending your ice skating pond. How happy Greg was to go to work for him. I am sure you will miss him, but you have memories to treasure forever. God Bless

Sincere sympathies to Tony and Jeannie. When I think of your father, I remember playing in our backyard with my brother, Greg, and neighbor Jerry, and Jeannie. When your father wanted Jeannie home, he'd whistle ... a very loud, distinct whistle ... and Jeannie hustled home immediately! I also remember his hard work and dedication building a skating rink in your backyard ... and his love of ice cream!

Jean & Tony,
Our dads had great times together; taking care of business at FVT, playing a little cards at lunch, then dancing with their wives at polka parties on the weekends. My favorite memory of Jim is back in '78 at my wedding picnic: champagne bottle in hand, smiling around the cigar in his mouth, making sure everyone's glass was taken care of. He was quite a character, and I know how hard it must be to lose him.
Take care, Deb Anderson Strebel

Please accept my condolences. Jim was such a great guy...loved his smile and laugh. He gave my husband his start in the business world by hiring Bill while he was just a high school student. Under Jim's guidance, Bill went on to become a typesetter and worked in the graphics industry for the rest of his professional career. He was always greatful to Jim for his kindness and guidance. He will long be remembered.
