Grams- Not a day goes by when I do not think about you. Though my heart will be bruised from the pain of losing you, I know that my heart is bigger b/c of the love and joy we shared together. Even in times of sadness I am able to smile b/c you left me (and Malcolm & Lucas) feeling loved...
I love you!

Dolores, I am very blessed to have had you as a friend. We had a wonderful time being Presidents together -- you always was hot and I was cold, and you would fan us both. It was too funny!!! You had such a great spirit. Always smiling and organizing. You were the best organizer. I know you are greatly missed in many places. Home, Sorority, Church and community. God gave us a great sister and friend. We are thankful for that and sad that He needed you home all too soon. We will have a grand reunion someday -- I look forward to seeing you again.

To my dearest Mom,
i love you so much,
my heart aches without you,
so many times i have needed to call you, to talk , get advise or ask for a recipe,
you were such a devoted and dedicated Mother, from making my school clothes, halloween costumes and to the best home made cooking ever,
you made me first in your life even before yourself,
you took care and nurtured me and saw to my every need plus spoiling me rotten, you loved me unconditionally in spite of my misgivings,
i have always needed you and when i did you were there through thick and thin,
they say i look just like you and that is such an honor, giving me your beautiful face and that Crest tooth paste smile,
i was not ready to say goodbye,
i am so lost without you,
my love for you has grown stronger,
i have learned the true meaning of appreciation,
thanks for all those special moments, memories and love,
i live through you now,
cathy

Remembrance for Mom

Mother, as I walk through the journey of life, I remember.
I remember how you helped me to grow with love, truth, and honesty. I remember how you helped me to choose the right path with values, morals, and self worth.
I remember how you gave me dreams with hope and confidence. As I remember, I pray to be a mother like you, to shape my children into strong adults, full of hopes and dreams.
You made me who I am today, and I will always remember you in life's passings, for no one could touch my life as you have.

To my Beautiful friend Dee,
I will never forget the many wonderful times we have shared over our 45 years.
You always were my rock through thick and thin. I have always felt you were my soul sister, my angel! I will never have a friend that has meant as much as you did to me! I will miss you terribly but I know you will always be with me where ever I go and what ever I do!
You were so beautiful inside and out and touched so many lives with beautiful memories! You were such a great inspiration and example to many youths!
My children loved you so much and you were so special to them as well!
You know I was with your girls and your beautiful family when you passed on to the angels! I love them all!
God Bless you my dearest friend and I will see you in heaven where we will again be joined!
I love you! I know this is hard on your family but you are in a better place now with no heartache!
Your friend forever, hugs and kisses.
God Bless your family and God be with them in this time!

Art and Family - We were saddened to think that Dolores would not be at sorority functions anymore. She was the epitomy of what Beta Sigma Phi means to me, friendship. She enjoyed her responsibilities for our 2006 State Convention and even took care of the flowers. I will miss her smile, her laughter, and her beautiful face which made her look much younger than her actual age! (Envy!) My prayers are with you in the days to come.

Dear Shumaker Family,
I was so sad to hear about Delores. She was a wonderful memory of my childhood, I loved seeing her at the San Pedro festivals. I would look for her in the store whenever I went shopping. I loved her smile and personality, she was always a bundle of energy and joy, always beautiful inside and out. My heart goes out to your family.
Sincerely
Connie De Mars

The loss of the life of Dolores Shumaker will be a great one. The world will be more difficult without the great works of Dolores. She always acted as though she knew you forever. She is was what Beta Sigma Phi is all about. May God watch over the Shumaker family during this time. "May God Watch Over Me and Thee While We Are Absent One From the Other".

I just wanted to express my deepest sympathies to Art & the rest of the family. Dolores was probably the sweetest lady that I have met in sorority. She always worked hard to make sure that everything was perfect for the event she was in charge of. Also, when our chapter was in charge of the Crab Feed, she helped to keep the stress off of us by always having a smile in the kitchen. She will be missed by her sisters in sorority.

My deepest condolences to Art and the rest of the family. Delores was always one of my favorite Sorority Sisters! She was always positive and made everyone glad to be a part of Sorority. We will miss her pasta at the Crab Feed! Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

My thoughts are with the family.
I remember Delores from San Pedro as a young girl. Cousin Delores, later in life I found out she was not a real cousin. I was devasted I wasn't related to the most beautiful lady in the world. She always made me SMILE.

Dear Art and family, my prayers are with you. Dolores' smile and laugh are contagious. She and I go way back to 3rd and U St. many years ago, as well as our short yet pleasant visits when we would meet at San Pedro Park or the Festas. God bless you, Barbara Carvalho-Lehmann

My condolences to the Shumaker family. I was in Dolores's sorority in 1977. She was great fun and a wonderful person. She allowed me to have a taste of her homemade wine. I'll never forget it!

To the Shumaker Family.
My husband and I were so sad to hear of Dolores' passing. We went on several cruises with her and Aggie (Alaska and the Panama Canel). We had alot of fun on both cruises. We will remember her for her sunny disposition and unfailing good humor even when we were all seasick. Gail & Walter Jones

Not only were you my mom but we were best friends. You are in my heart and I have many, many great memories that will stay with me forever. As I get gotten older, I definitley get more and more like "my mother's daughter!" Thank you for raising me with faith, love, morals, values, and compassion. Your strength is a part of me as well as that "stubborn Portague-ness".....You are with Grandma Mamie and Grandpa Joe now, and I too, will some day be with you again.
Love Forever,
Your baby girl,
Sharon
PS: I hope there's a Nordstrom's there!
