John Wyatt Obituary

Taunton John E. "Jack" Wyatt, 78 years old, died at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton, May 29, 2008. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Brown) Wyatt, formerly of New York for 47 years. He was born in Taunton, in 1930, son of the late Charles and Clara (Pollard) Wyatt. Educated in Taunton schools, he was a wrestler and lettered in football at Taunton High School. A veteran of the Korean War, from 1948 to 1952, he served in the submarine service aboard the USS Bream, USS Batfish and the USS Cabezon. After his discharge, from the U.S. Navy, he sailed on oil tankers as a member of the Merchant Marines. After he left the Merchant Marines, he worked for over 36 years for Texas Instruments as a nuclear material worker, group leader and as a supervisor in Attleboro. Jack was a member of the Italian Social Club in Taunton for many years and was a talented musician and he enjoyed fishing, bow-hunting, camping, bocce, shooting pool and doing crossword puzzles. He was the father of John R. Wyatt of Taunton, Patricia A. Barrow of Colorado and was the father of the late Susan M. Wyatt and the late Daniel L. Wyatt. He was the grandfather of four; and brother of Patricia Wilkins, James Wyatt and Robert Wyatt, all of Taunton, and the late Charles Wyatt. Jack is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, MA 02451. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Thursday evening, June 5, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. (Rte. 138 South), Taunton. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. during the visiting hours. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Josephs Cemetery, Taunton.
