Michael Madonna Obituary

Brockton Michael M. Madonna, 83, of Brockton, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Sachem Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of East Bridgewater. He was the husband of the late Irene V. (Benson) Madonna for 46 years. Born March 24, 1925, in Brockton, he was a son of the late Frank Madonna and Rosarina (Lombardo) Madonna. Raised in Brockton, he attended Brockton schools. Michael served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a tool and dye maker by trade and worked for Franklin Auto Parts, Sigma Electronics and Brockton High School, where he retired as a maintenance worker. Michael lived most of his life in Brockton, but he also enjoyed his other home in Boynton Beach, Fla. He also took pleasure in sailing and attending flea markets. Michael is survived by his children, Janet M. Raphel and her husband Alan of New York, Jeanne L. White and her husband Jack of Brockton and Michael E. Madonna of Florida; his grandchildren, Rebecca, Elissa, Jared, Allison and Amanda; his siblings, Augie Madonna, Lena Hassan, Sal Madonna and Arthur Madonna. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Vincent Madonna. Funeral services will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Friday at 11 a.m. Private cremation to follow.
