James Shellington Obituary

Plymouth James Elwood Shellington, born in Norristown, Pa., and a son of Edna and William H. Shellington, peacefully passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008. He was the husband of Kathleen H. Shellington for almost 60 years. Predeceased by a brother, William H. Shellington, and is survived by brother Richard Shellington; and daughters Christine S. Sutton of Easton, Margaret S. Oddy of Williston, Vt.; and sons Jonathan D. Shellington of Hanover and J. Douglas Shellington of Marshfield; and their spouses, Stephen Sutton, Thomas Oddy, Jonie Shellington and Jean Shellington respectively; and grandchildren, Jason, Tyler and Kiley Sutton, Kathryn and Jennifer Oddy, Brittany and Benjamin Shellington. A talented athlete and Pennsylvania State Champion swimmer (Norristown High School, 1941), Jim was a longtime employee of Elco Corp., in Huntingdon, Pa. He enjoyed hunting seasons, boating on Raystown Lake and an avid hockey fan from pond hockey to the NHL. After Jim retired in 1986, they moved to Plymouth to be near their family. He will be remembered in the hearts of all who knew him, for his devotion to his grandchildrens sports events, his gardening, baking and enjoying their pool. He leaves behind unforgettable memories of his flashy grin, quick wit and humor, combined with his charm and impeccable dress. According to his wishes, funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements by the Richard Davis Funeral Homes of Plymouth and Manomet.
