Easton William Goward Bassett, 91, of Easton and Edgartown, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, in Easton after a brief illness. He was born April 22, 1917, in Stoughton, a son of William Nelson and Maina Ellen (Neale) Bassett, and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1934. In 1941, he married Tufelia "Tee" Mazukina of Bridgwater and moved into their new home in South Easton. Bill served as a member of the Easton Board of Appeals from 1953 to 1992 and was a past officer of the Unity Church in North Easton. He and his family enjoyed trips covering all 50 states, summer vacations on Martha's Vineyard and trips to Europe. Throughout the years, Bill photographed every family and scouting event and faithfully labeled and scrapbooked them. Other hobbies included surf-fishing, boating and landscaping and maintaining his Easton and Martha's Vineyard homes. Surviving him is Tee, his wife of 67 years; a son, Geoffrey W. and wife Patricia (Butler) Bassett of Easton; a daughter, Bonnie E. Healey and husband Leonard of Whiting, Maine; a granddaughter, Kathleen M. Scouting is Bill Bassett. Thanks for all the work, time, and dreams for Squanto Council and Old Colony Council. Rest in peace at that marker with the Scout Emblem at the Evergreen. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tee and the extended family of Scouter Bill.

To "Tee" Bassett and Family.

There are no words that can adequately be said to ease your pain at this very sad time with the news of Mr. Bassetts death.
Mr. Bassett was a friend to all and especially to the Scouting Family, one so dearly loved by him.
Camp Squanto's success today is a direct result of Mr. Bassetts attention to details and involvement. He truly represented the true "Spirit of Squanto" to which so many strive.
Thank you "Tee" for sharing so much of your time and that of Mr. Bassetts for the benefit of so many people and especially the youth.
God has truly blessed this wonderful man and his Family and may God give you all strength and courage to endure what you must during this painful time of life.
Mr. Bassett will be missed but not forgotten. All who knew him are better people because of him. May he rest in peace.
