Evelyn Washburne Obituary

Easton Evelyn (nee Dodge) Washburne, age 86, of North Easton, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died of respiratory complications June 10, 2008. She was the beloved mother of Crosby III and Bradford; grandmother of Brianna, Alena and Bradford Jr.; widow of Crosby Jr. A longtime nurse, who began her career as a World War II U.S. Army lieutenant, Evelyn worked over five decades through three states retiring at the age of 70, from John Knox Village. An avid gardener, conversationalist, active VFW member and political volunteer, her compassion, wisdom and love of life will be missed by the countless people whose lives she touched, lives she saved and lives she will continue to affect long after she is gone. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006.

Mrs. Washburne,
Maam, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served as a U.S. Army Nurse during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
