Richard Mielke Obituary

Pembroke Richard W. "Dick" Mielke, of Pembroke, died June 23, 2008. He was 76 years old. Richard had been a resident of Pembroke since 1961 and was a Pembroke fire fighter for many years. He was also the first EMT in the town of Pembroke. He was the former owner and operator of Mielkes Motor Service in Pembroke and was a deacon of the First Church in Pembroke and a former trustee of the church. He also enjoyed his time driving for the Council on Aging. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and recently received his Korean Service Medal. At various times throughout his life, Richard had been a mechanic, carpenter, firefighter and blacksmith. Richard was the husband of the late Barbara A. Mielke; father of Richard Mielke II of Pembroke; grandfather of Richard Mielke III and Martha Mielke. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Monday, June 30, from 4-8 p.m. at the First Church in Pembroke. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 1, at 10 a.m. at the First Church in Pembroke. Mr. Mielke,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army in Korea and secondly for the citizens of Pembroke when you served with the PFD. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
