Richard Baker Obituary

Plymouth Richard Baker, age 76, died July 5, 2008, at the Jordan Hospital following a long illness. Born in Yarmouth on April 24, 1932, he was a son of the late Irving and Myrtle (Cash) Baker. He was the devoted husband of Mary A. (Diaz) (Botelho) Baker of Plymouth and the late Therese (Brouillard) Baker. He was educated in Yarmouth and Plymouth. He worked for most of his life as a machinist for the Plymouth Cordage Company. Mr Baker moved to Plymouth from Yarmouth in 1959. He was assistant Scout Master and Cub Master for Pack and Troop No. 47. He enjoyed reading and spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren who he held dear to his heart. Mr. Baker is survived by his beloved wife, Mary A. (Diaz) (Botelho) Baker; and his son, Dr. Richard Baker Jr. of Warwick, R.I.; his daughter, Mary Weeded and her husband John of Plymouth; and his sister, Muriel Hallet of Yarmouth. He was predeceased by his brother, Irving Baker Sr. and sister Nancy Fulton. He was grandfather to Evan Weeden as well as 27 other grandchildren; and great-grandfather to four. He leaves his stepchildren, Richard Botelho of Brandon, Fla., Steven Botelho and Anna Iandoli of Brunswick Ga., Gail Parish of Charlestown, S.C. and Debby Botelho of Plymouth. The funeral will take place on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth. Friends may call at the Cartmell Funeral Home Tuesday, from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth. Donations in his memory may be made to the Susan G.
