Uncle Bud, how do you say good-bye to someone who was a shining star in a world of tarnish? A man who would always smile and give a big hug? A man who overcame so many obstacles with his physical heart, because his spiritual heart was so much stronger?
My last memories of you and Tilla are in Marion when you were outside working amidst the flowers and plants. You had just had a setback, but you were still outside and smiling.
Thank you for being in my life from my childhood on, and, until we meet again, adieu.
To Aunt Tilla, Lesley, and Kim, Den and I send our condolences. God be with you in your hours of need.

I mourn the loss of Bud Hambrough -- a man whose joyful presence graced the years of my childhood. It was impossible to be sad or grumpy when he was around. His inner light shone brightly to encompass us all. His love for all his friends and family was boundless. The world is richer for having had him among us, and poorer that we have lost him.
Lord, grant him peace and eternal joy.

All of my love to all of you. I have so many fond memories of staying with Great Grampa Pat and the summer Kathy and I stayed with him and you were right next door. Bud was always a gentle man and a gentleman. I am so glad Kathy and I came to visit him before you moved from Marion. Thank you for being in my life. My condolences to Tilla, Lesley and Kim. Love Mary Lou

Mr. Hambrough,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USMC during WW II as a member of the 1st Mar Div-the "Old Breed." The history and accomplishments made by you and your fellow Marines in the 1st Division at Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, Pelilieu, and Okinawa are what all of us Marines who followed in your footsteps have always tried to live up to. and to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
