Elizabeth Kelly Obituary

Abington Elizabeth R. (Christie) Kelly, 80, of Abington, died July 20, 2008, with family at her bedside, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of John L. Kelly for more than 62 years. Born in Braintree, Aug. 6, 1927, she lived in Quincy and Weymouth before moving to Abington in 1961. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she received immense pleasure from spending time with family, enjoyed many outside activities and was an avid sports fan. She also was an accomplished skier and had a great love of ballroom dancing. She is survived by 10 children, Jeanne Kelly of Abington, Joan Holzman and her husband Arthur of Hanson, Janet Boyle of Abington, John Kelly and his wife Mary of Whitman, James Kelly and his wife Mary Lou of South Yarmouth, Joyce Bailey and her husband Daniel of Abington, Jane Larkin and her husband Paul of East Bridgewater, Joseph Kelly and his wife Katherine of Bridgewater, Jerome Kelly and his wife Cheryl of Taunton and Jacquelyn Stanbrook and her husband John of Halifax. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was a loving daughter of the late George and Vivian Christie of Quincy and sister of the late Rose Moriarty of Quincy, George Christie of Quincy and Hugh Christie of Weymouth. She also was the sister-in-law of Barbara Christie of Weymouth. Funeral from the Quealy and Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams St., Abington, Thursday, July 24, at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Bridgets Church, Abington, 9 a.m. Visitation Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m. Interment St. Patricks Cemetery, Rockland. Donations may be made in memory of Elizabeth to fight Multiple Sclerosis, MS Society Central New England Chapter, P.O. Box 845945, Boston, MA 02284, or to fight Autism, ARC of Greater Plymouth, 10 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 208, Plymouth, MA 02360, or to fight Huntingtons Disease, Boothby Memorial Fund, c/o Abington Bank, 6 Harrison Ave., Abington, MA 02351. Dear Jackie & John: I'm so very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Even though I never knew her, she had to have been a special person to have brought up 10 children these days. I'm sure as you all get together, you can remember so many good times. Keep them in mind as you go through this week and into the future.
