Alice L. Wall

Plymouth Alice L. (Stephan) Wall, died July 23, 2008, at St. Joseph Manor in Brockton after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 92 years old. Born in Boston, raised in Plymouth and Kingston, she was a longtime resident of Plymouth. She was a graduate of Kingston High School. She was a daughter of the late Anna and Nicholas Stephan; wife of the late Charles C. Wall; and mother of the late Alice R. Wall. She is survived by her son, Charles C. Wall Jr. of Scituate; her grandchildren, Charles C. Wall III of East Setauket, N.Y., and Elizabeth A. Stuhlsatz and her husband David of Quincy; her sister, Dorothy S. Appleton of Plymouth; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wall had a memorable passion for Early American decoration and was certified as a teacher in country painting and stenciling by the Esther Stevens Brazer Guild of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration. Her work earned several "A Awards" from the society. For many years, she taught at Fletcher Farm School for the Arts and Crafts in Vermont, as well as, in adult education programs at Plymouth-Carver Regional High School and Abington High School. Additionally, she taught the techniques of Early American decorative arts to many private students. For many years, Mrs. Wall worked in the children's department of Buttner's in downtown Plymouth. She was active in the Catholic Women's Guild of St. Mary Parish in Plymouth. Her interests included antiques, furniture refinishing, gardening, camping in the Adirondacks and on Cape Cod, swimming and her cocker spaniels. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Cartmell Funeral Service of Plymouth. There are no visiting hours and services are private.
