Anargyros Kazis Obituary

Brockton Anargyros Jerry Kazis, 75, of Brockton, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, in Brockton, with is family by his side, after a long battle with a debilitating illness. He was the beloved husband of Penelope (Roufogalis) Kazis. Born Jan. 28, 1933, in Vassara, Greece, he was a son of the late Elias P. Kazis and Stavoula (Sakellaris) Kazis. Jerry came to the United States in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Kazis was a self-employed dry waller. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton, Ahepa Byron Chapter No. 57 and the Disabled American Veterans of Whitman. He enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his beloved wife, Penelope (Roufogalis) Kazis; his loving daughters, Stephanie Venuto and her husband James, Dina Kazis-Panico and her husband Robert, Christina Kazis and Mitch Sayare, and Valeri Sever and her husband Joseph; proud grandfather of Joseph, James, Lauren, Julia, Michael and Matthew; cherished brother of Artemis Douvris, Bessie Koufos and Helen Serevetis; brother-in-law of Estella and Peter Merzi and Charles and Sandra Roufogalis; he is also survived by nine nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Monday at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Mr. Kazis,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
