Helen Cobbett Obituary

Pembroke Helen M. (Austin) Cobbett, 93, died Saturday, Aug. 16, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Clifford Cobbett Sr. Born in Rockland, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lucinda (Higgins) Austin. Helen loved gardening and was an avid reader. She enjoyed bingo and she loved to travel and go on day trips. She is survived by her children, Gladys Hall of Halifax, Nancy Joseph of Plymouth, Marjorie Gilman of Pennsylvania, Constance Cobbett of Pembroke, Apphia Downing of Florida, Richard Cobbett of New Hampshire, Beverly Sturtevant and Arthur Cobbett, both of Tennessee and Brenda Damon of Holbrook; also 43 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 29 great great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Clifford Cobbett Jr. and sister of the late Charles, Robert and Milton Cobbett, and Genevieve Overbeck. Her services will be held Wednesday, August 20, at 11 a.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 19, from 4-7 p.m. For online condolences and directions, visit www.blanchardfc.com.
