Theodore Downey Obituary

Riverview, Fla. Theodore I. Downey, 78, formerly of Hanson, Mass., died unexpectedly, in Florida, July 31. He was a son of the late Joseph and Isabelle (Cameron) Downey. Born in Brockton, Mass., he was raised in Hanson and attended Hanson schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served overseas during the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years, serving from 1947 to 1968. He was an active member of the American Legion and VFW, both locally and in Florida. After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years, both in Norwell, Mass., and Brockton, before retiring and moving to Florida, where he resided for the past 20 years. He leaves behind several cousins and an aunt. He was the brother of the late Kay Cameron and Lillian LaBonte. Family and friends are invited to share in a graveside service to be held Saturday, Aug. 30, at 9:30 a.m. in the Fern Hill Cemetery, High Street, Hanson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108. Arrangements by the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Mr Downey,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USAF-especially during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
