Dolores M. Archibald

Raynham Dolores M. (Tardanico) Archibald, 79 years, of Raynham, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at South East Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center, after a period of failing health. She was the wife for 34 years of Loring R. Archie Archibald. Born in Boston and raised in Randolph, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Theresa (Severini) Tardanico. For the past 21 years, she had been a resident of Raynham, having previously lived in Brockton for many years. Dolores was a graduate of Stetson High School in Randolph and Brockton Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1949, where she was a member of their alumni association. Dolores love for infants and caring nature assisted her in her lengthy career as a registered nurse. As a registered nurse, she took great joy in bringing healthy babies into the world. She worked for many years at Milton Hospital, briefly at Brockton Hospital and retired in 1994 from the high risk maternity department at One Pearl Street in Brockton. In her free time, Dolores enjoyed oil and watercolor painting, working in her flower garden and summers on the Cape. She was a great cook and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Dolores is survived by her children, Deborah Hayes and her husband Edward La Perle of LaFayette, Colo., Dianne E. Gabrion and her husband Michael of OFallon, Mo., Rexford Hayes and his partner Robin LeBeaux of Milford, Richard Hayes and his wife Karen of Brockton, Ralph Archibald and his wife Marilyn of Middleboro and Carol McLennan and her husband William of Little River, S.C. She was the sister of Pauline Marion of Davis, Calif., and the late Sally Ricker. She also leaves nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many lifelong friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 29, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, at 11 a.m. with visitation 10-11 a.m. Burial to follow in Melrose Cemetery.
